I am truly inspired by entrepreneurs – people who take their fates into their own hands, and aim to fill a need through their own sweat and tears.
I came from an entrepreneurial family – I spent weekends with my grandparents at their bakery, and then at their sawmill and craft store. I was often with my dad, a logger and a truck owner/operator, as he found new clients, filled firewood orders, and harvested tree lots.
Now my goal is to bear some of the workload for business owners, by helping them communicate with potential customers. I write advertorials, blog posts, brochures, and web copy for entrepreneurs so they can get back to creating their products, performing their services, and pouring their expertise into the work they love.
I’ve been a part-time freelance writer since 2007, when I started writing personal interest articles for Askmen.com. I’ve always enjoyed writing and had written fiction before, but this was my first foray into selling my work.
I was inspired and influenced by the work of intrepid journalists like Wendy Mesley of CBC fame, and decided to take writing to a more professional level. I attended Sheridan College post-grad one-year certificate course, followed by a stint at CityTV in Toronto, where I did some web news writing and managed content for Breakfast Television’s website.
Recently, I’ve helped construction technology companies – from startups to global companies – differentiate themselves in a crowded market. I’ve worked with SMARTBUILD, OpenSpace, Alice Technologies, Aurigo, and Procore, among others.
